Based on Discover Roxbury's 2012 oral history project, this tour explores Lower Roxbury, the former center of Boston's jazz scene, home of Pullman Porters, and stomping ground for several people who would eventually become leaders in the Civil Rights Movement. This is a unique exploration of Roxbury's hidden jazz history. Tours are 2 hours long, depart Ruggles Station, and are rain or shine, with the exception of severe weather.
Full tours: Apr 27, June 22, Aug 4, Sept 28. All begin at 11am.
Mini tours (30 minutes) will be available during the Beantown Jazz Festival hourly 2pm-5pm. Please visit Discover Roxbury's booth at the festival to sign up for a tour.
