COLONIAL AND REVOLUTIONARY ROXBURY

5,ooo patriot soldiers camped in Roxbury during the siege of Boston, guarding the only land route out of Boston and skirmishing on a daily basis with the British only yards away.


Join State Representative Byron Rushing for a tour of colonial and revolutionary Roxbury. Starting at the Dillaway Thomas House, headquarters of General JohnThomas during the siege of Boston. we will then visit First Church in Roxbury and Fort Hill, site of the largest and strongest of the forts surrounding the British holed up in Boston.


The next stops are the Eliot Burial Ground and the Shirley Eustis House, home of colonial governor William Shirley. End with lunch at Merengue, a popular and delicious Dominican restaurant.
